  • Extra Windows donates £1,000 to ‘Iron Man’ for cerebral palsy charity

DGCOS member Extra Windows has sponsored a customer for £1,000 to do an ‘Iron Man’ challenge in on behalf of his three-year-old son, who suffers with cerebral palsy.

Nick Hewitson, Managing Director of Extra Windows, arrived at the property of Dominic Scotton, 34, of Maidstone, to fit a purpose-built conservatory he was so moved by the story behind it, he was the one who ended up handing over £1,000.

Mr Scotton’s son, William, suffered complications at birth and now suffers from cerebral palsy. The conservatory was built so William could enjoy the surroundings of the garden without having to venture outside.

To raise money for those who suffer with similar problems Mr Scotton was one of 1,600 people who took part in the ‘Iron Man’ event on 19 June in Somerset, which comprised of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a half marathon, completed within 9.5 hours. Extra Windows, the company which just came round to fit a conservatory, was his largest sponsor.

Mr Scotton is raising money for ‘The Foundation of Conductive Education’ (http://www.conductive-education.org.uk/) which helps those with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and other mobility issues and has already run the London Marathon this year for the same cause.

Mr Scotton was told that William had 48 hours to live after he was born on 14 August 2007, but he is now coming up to his fourth birthday. Mr Scotton – and Extra Windows – are delighted to give something back to the Foundation which helped him, and William, along the way.

Established more than 17 years ago, Extra Windows is a family firm based in Sidcup, windows, doors, conservatories, and roofline, as well as block paved drives, paths & patios. As a DGCOS member, not only are their deposits and guarantees protected but also their whole buying experience.
