This is the second in our series of department spotlights. This article will focus on our Membership Team.

The DGCOS Membership Team are who our installers will get to know the most.

The Membership Team are the direct contact between installers and DGCOS. They are here to answer any questions and queries you have and will help you in any way they can. The Membership Team help installers daily with a whole range of different enquiries, from new product recommendations to best finance lenders to sales training. No question is too big or too small.

The Membership Team are here to help at every stage of your journey with DGCOS from application to cancellation. This article will give insight into our Membership Team and becoming a DGCOS member.

Pre-warning: While the process below may seem complex and ‘new’ at DGCOS we are committed to ensuring consumers receive the highest standard of care when using a DGCOS accredited member.

Installers must understand that with DGCOS we offer a premium promise and customer care is extremely important to us and subsequently our members. This means we have a strict vetting process to ensure that companies match our promise and will not leave any customer disadvantaged. Having spoken to many current members they admit that whilst the process is strict, the benefits on offer to the consumer is critical in closing deals.

What is the application process for DGCOS?

Installers considering DGCOS membership can register their interest by telephone, emailsocial media or by submitting an expression of interest form online.

All interested installers will then receive a telephone call from a member of our Membership Team who will provide information about the scheme, including the benefits and requirements for membership; and they will answer any questions or concerns the installer may have along the way. If following this conversation, the installer would like to apply for membership, an application form can be submitted with the help of DGCOS staff.

Once we have received an application for membership we follow the membership onboarding process which includes the installer providing us with:

  • A copy of their consumer contract, which should detail a consumer’s cancellation rights.
  • A copy of their guarantee/workmanship warranty.
  • Copies of their employer’s liability and public liability insurance certificates.
  • Copies of either:
    •    Last 6 months bank statements
    • Latest filed accounts

DGCOS also carry out background history checks, credit check and conduct an online internet search which will include review websites and any company and management social media profiles.

The application is then scored and sent to the Operations Manager for assessment. Any applications needing further discussion or investigation are sent to The Membership & Compliance Review Panel (MCRP).

If all being well and the installer is are onboarded with DGCOS, we will follow up with a ‘Welcome Call’
The ‘Welcome Call will be with the Membership Team again, who will discuss a range of topics relating to your business including how the DGCOS can increase your sales.

What is discussed in the Welcome Call?

The welcome call is mainly about walking the installer through the processes they need to understand to be a DGCOS member.

The welcome call will likely be with our Membership Relationship Officer – Mark Moffet. Mark will clarify our promise, our values and how we can help you. He is there to answer any questions or queries the new members may have.

Mark will walk you through the job registration portal and explain how to use the marketing assets we provide you with. However, the support doesn’t stop there.

Our Membership Team and Marketing Team are happy to help with any technical, marketing or sales issues you have moving forward. Just drop us an email and we will do our best to help.
